How to build a Nida log house?

  1. Paperwork. Check local laws if the permits are needed for a project like yours.
  2. Prepare Site. Clear and level the ground, set up utilities.
  3. Build Foundation. Install the required foundation (concrete slab, piers, etc.).
  4. Check the Nida Kit. Unpack materials, carefully study the manual and create a work plan.
  5. Assemble Cabin. Follow the manual to build, starting with the base.
  6. Finish. Add roofing, insulation, utilities, and final touches.

Interlocking Double Tongue and Groove System

At NIDA our woodworkers use a highly efficient interlocking double tongue and groove system to make our log houses. When assembled, two parts form a strong bond, which ensures that all parts stay locked together.

We have perfected this method over more than two decades because it is simply perfect for keeping wooden constructions strongly interconnected in any conditions.

What Types of Wooden Cladding Are Available?

Cladding is not just about making garden rooms look good, but also about protecting them from the elements and keeping them energy-efficient.

At NIDA we use different types of cladding systems, each serving its own purpose and aesthetic appeal:

Horizontal cladding. Panels or boards are installed parallel to the ground, giving garden rooms a sleek, modern look. It’s a favourite for contemporary designs because it creates clean, continuous lines that can make a structure feel wider and more grounded. Plus, it’s excellent at shedding water, which is a lifesaver in areas with lots of rain.

Vertical cladding is where panels run perpendicular to the ground. This style is more traditional and structured, often used on taller buildings to give them a more imposing, elegant feel. Vertical cladding is also solid at handling wind and water, adding a nice sense of depth and texture to a building’s exterior.
